EXPERIENCEJMU Duke Club Harrisonburg, VADirector of The JMU Duke Club June 2003-February 2006 Managed 7-person Duke Club Annual Fund team, which raised $794,778 from 3,085 members in FY 05-06, setting an all-time Duke Club fundraising record for the third consecutive year. Goal accomplished through personal visits, mailings, and calling programs. Increased dollars raised by 103% from $391,437 in FY02-03 to $794,778 in FY05-06. Oversaw the Rep System, which includes 100 volunteers across 13 active chapters of the JMU Duke Club. Facilitated the hiring and training of Assistant Director of Athletic Development & a Development Associate twice. Personally visited 179 donors and prospects in the 2004 Calendar Year, Duke Club staff visited over 500 members. Prospected &/or solicited capital gifts ranging from $5,000 to $250,000 towards $10 million campaign for new Athletic Performance Center. Supervised planning of events including the Spring Tour of socials covering 9 regions and reaching out to 800 Duke Club members & alumni, 8 annual golf tournaments, away-game tailgates and home game hospitality for football & basketball. Served a lead role in the 2003 Basketball reseating and 2005 Football Reseating using the priority point system. Initiated a 110% Incentive inspiring nearly 50% of current members to increase donations by 10% or more in 2004 & 2005. Coordinated Duke Club Classic Golf Tournament with Duke Club Board members raising a record ~$30,000 in 2004.
JMU Duke Club Harrisonburg, VA Associate Director of Athletic Development June 2002-June 2003 Managed all aspects of Athletic Annual Fund which netted a 23% increase in FY unrestricted contributions or $391,437. Managed the Rep System which includes 85 volunteers across 12 active chapters of the JMU Duke Club. Facilitated the hiring and training of Assistant Director of Athletic Development. Trained both student & alumni callers in monitoring calling programs in Duke Club Chapters and at the Madison Connection. Oversaw game day parking for football and maintained donor relations while allocating donors to appropriate lots.
JMU Duke Club Harrisonburg, VA Field Development Manager July 2000-June 2002 Created representative system comprised of 58 volunteers within seven chapters covering three states including the regions of: Richmond, Northern Virginia, Hampton Roads, Fredericksburg, Northern Valley, Baltimore, & Philadelphia. Developed and cultivated potential & current donors with over 200 personal visits annually within seven chapters in which donations increased by $42,362.36 and the average gift increased from $91.12 to $131.81. Planned socials, reception and golf tournaments in chapters yielding over $10,000 in support of student-athlete scholarships. Created & advised the Student Duke Club; developed the habit of giving to Athletics within 326 students totaling $13,000. Assisted with implementation of point priority and reseating of Bridgeforth Stadium.
JMU Senior Class Challenge Harrisonburg, VA Co-Chair, Class of 2000 Academic Year 1999-2000 Encouraged college seniors to develop a habit of giving by soliciting donations for the 5 academic colleges and the construction of a new Alumni Center. Secured a record $125,000 in pledges and initiated a brick campaign to increase fulfillment.
Baltimore Orioles Baltimore, MD Community relations intern Ballpark Tours, Baserunner & Birdkeeper Summer 1998 & 99 Conducted tours of Oriole Park @ Camden Yards for thousands of fans. Worked in Press Box, Control Room, & Front Office during games. Planned and managed events with Mascot at schools, libraries, parades and during games. Hosted VIP’s & coordinated player appearances for pre-game. Updated former player addresses & handled donation requests.
